Another landmark this month by reaching 127 members now giving over £4,000 each month. For Schistosomiasis Control Initiative this will buy treatments for 7 Neglected Tropical Diseases for a minimum of 6,000 people.
SCI treat children (and at risk adults) for schistosomiasis and soil transmitted helminths (STH – whipworm, hookworm, roundworm). These simple treatments prevent anaemia, impaired growth and development in children and the development of life-threatening conditions such as bladder cancer, kidney malfunction or liver and spleen damage. “A best buy” in public health, it costs as little as 50p to treat a person for a year through SCI and our donation will fund treatments guarantied for distribution reaching an incredible 6,000-8,000 people.
