Our March 1% will bring clean water to a community of 180 through charity: water.
Ethiopia has one of Africa’s fastest-growing economies, but is still far behind regional averages for economic and development indicators. This is because they are starting from such a low base, caused largely by droughts and civil wars in the 1970s and 1980s. Currently, more than 60 million people in Ethiopia lack access to safe water.
We’ll be investing in fixing a failed water point to give a community a greater chance at improving nutrition, gender equality, education, and economic development. The community will be heavily involved in the construction process, giving them an important sense of ownership over their water supply.
We’ll receive regular updates from charity: water as this project progresses including GPS coordinates on completion.
