The 25th of April is World Malaria Day. The theme for 2016 is “End Malaria For Good.” An achievable global goal we can all get behind.

We’re nearly five years old (we’ll be marking our Birthday in May) so to start celebrations and proudly play our part in ending malaria, we’ll be working with our charity partner Against Malaria this month for the 5th time. Against Malaria has been ranked top for quality and cost effectiveness by GiveWell in 2012, 2013, 2015 and again this year. GiveWell is an independent charity evaluator who conduct in-depth research to determine how much good (in terms of lives saved, lives improved, etc.) a given program accomplishes per pound spent. They have commended Against Malaria’s excellent effectiveness and cost-effectiveness as well as their standout transparency and commitment to self-evaluation.

Your combined 1% donations have raised £17,075 for this impressive organization since we got together in 2011.

We’ve funded 11,770 nets which have protected 21,200 people. That’s 42 entire villages! The number of deaths likely to have been avoided by these nets is more than 50 and the number of cases of malaria more than 20,000. That’s why we’re not stopping there! We’re hoping to add another £5,000 to the pot this month. That will pay for almost 3,000 long-lasting insecticide treated nets to be distributed for another 14 villages worth of adults and children, keeping them safe as they sleep at night.
