Our fundraising in the last month will provide school meals for 655 children for a whole year. This funding will cover 2 of our allocated schools including Chitakale primary school (current enrolment 135) and Kalopa primary school (current enrolment 316). All additional funds will be used to expand the Mary's Meals feeding programs.
Providing school lunch through Mary's Meals improves attendance, exam results and enrolement for the schools. Mary's Meals now feeds over 894,000 children every school day.
Our fundraising this month was supplemented by our 1%Kids fun run which raised £333.55p. This in itself is enough to feed 40 children in one of our schools for the whole year.
Mary’s Meals is an international movement that sets up school feeding projects in communities where poverty and hunger prevent children from gaining an education. The charity now feeds over 2.4 million children every school day and it costs just £19.15 to feed a child for a school year. We sponsored our first school with Mary’s Meals in 2011 and have been working with them ever since
