Reaching 4,800 with life saving community health care
Our October 1% will be used to recruit six Living Goods Community Health Workers in areas where the need is the greatest.
Armed with a smart phone they go door-to-door providing health education, diagnosis, medicine and products. This model is saving and improving the lives of mothers and children and offering respectable income opportunities for people within established communities.
They’ll be trained with the ministry of health iCCM curriculum as well as pregnancy and newborn care, nutrition, WASH, products and business skills. They’ll be equipped with a smartphone and app to diagnose and treat childhood illnesses on site register and track pregnancies and retain patients. 4,800 people will be reached thanks to these six new recruits alone.
Living Goods empower people to improve the health of their families, friends and communities. Networks of ‘Avon-like’ health entrepreneurs are supported to go door to door teaching families how to improve their health and wealth while selling life-changing products such as simple treatments for malaria and diarrhea, safe delivery kits, fortified foods, clean cook stoves, water filters, and solar lights. By combining the best practices from business and public health, Living Goods are dramatically lowering child mortality AND creating livelihoods for thousands of enterprising women.
