Last July our members funded a project with Pump Aid to provide a pre-school in the Mchinji District of western Malawi with clean water for the first time.
The project has now been completed and we’re delighted to receive reports back from the community who are benefiting from our 1%.
Mphatso Community-Based Childcare Centre (CBCC) is a place for under-5s to play, learn and develop under the care of local community volunteers. It is located in Nkhoma village in the Traditional Authority of Mphomwa, Kasungu District, Central Region of Malawi. For more than 3 decades, children at Mphatso CBCC drunk water from a stream. Every week a handful of children would get ill from the dirty water.
As well as providing clean water for the children to drink and wash their hands, Pump Aid are working with the local community to promote better hygiene and nutrition.
